Presenting... A NEW PAGE!

On here, over the next few weeks, we're going to move all the latest Planning News, Consultation Announcements, Background Papers and anything you'll need to respond.

By the way - you can STILL get tee shirts, badges and stickers. Just drop us a line through the "Contact" page and our crack merchandising division (by the way - that just means they're good at what they do. NOT that they sell...Oh, never mind.) will be in touch.

The Website of Belper Against Tesco Superstore

First of all a little background on the Main Players:

DPP are a massive Planning Consultancy representing Tesco in Belper. (Their website is at http://www.dppllp.com/). (On an entertaining note, they've only recently dropped the magnificently sinister Company slogan "Doing more than you know"!)

Amber Valley Borough Council are the Planning Authority who will have to deal with any Tesco application. Their website can be found at http://www.ambervalley.gov.uk/.

A large part of our concerns are in the dealings between AVBC and DPP. Some of these concerns are highlighted in a handy format here.

There are two Planning Documents keeping our Planning Team exercised at the moment. The first is the Supplimentary Planning Document from AVBC. Read it (and its supporting documentation) at http://www.ambervalley.gov.uk/services/environment/landandpremises/planningtownandcountry/structureplans/localdevelopmentplans/Land+between+the+A6+and+the+River+Derwent.htm

Now then. We aren't entirely sure about the current status of the SPD. Due to our concerns over the process of its consultation and writing, it may have been delayed, or shelved, or discarded entirely. Read the full saga here.

The more pressing Document right now is the "Core Strategy". This is a Borough - Wide document that the SPD is designed to fit into. Read about Amber Valley's consultation at http://www.ambervalley.gov.uk/services/environment/landandpremises/planningtownandcountry/structureplans/localdevelopmentplans/corestrategyissuesandoptionsconsultation.htm

and download a response form here.

You can read our response here, and we've also produced a rough guide to help you with your response, which you can download here.

BUT WE DON'T HAVE LONG - GET YOUR VIEWS IN BY MAY 28th!

STILL neither endorsed by, or anything to do with, Tesco PLC. This joke's getting a bit thin, isn't it?
