The Website of Belper Against Tesco Superstore

Planning Documents Specific to Belper

Right then. The Big One at the moment is the Amber Valley Borough Council Development Brief. This is designed to serve as a checklist of what would and wouldn't be allowed on the Derwent Street Site. Tesco's own consultants helped out in its preparation which, we are assured, is "quite normal". Read it here.

Have you read that? Did you like it? Here is the submission that B.A.T.S made to Amber Valley during the consultation process.

This is the last "Belper Healthcheck". Very interesting.

And this is the definition of Belper Town Centre. And no. Despite what your 15 year-old tells you, it ISN'T the bench outside Birds.

Finally, a report by Latham Architects on development ideas for Belper.

Other Local Documents

Here is the Amber Valley Local Development Scheme from 2007.

And here is the Amber Valley "Statement of Community Involvement. We need to hold them to this!

This is Amber Valley's Annual Monitoring Report for 2006. We'll hopefully have the 2007 report up soon!

Earlier this year, B.A.T.S conducted our own survey in Matlock on the effects of the new Sainsbury's and road. Here it is! Read it! It's good!

Also well worth reading is Belper Civic Forum's Alternative Development Brief.

Campaigning Guides and Resources

The Government recently published the findings of the Competition Commission into supermarkets. It makes interesting, if dry, reading...

Another Government report, this time from the All-Party Small Shops Group.

A handy guide to the Kafkaesque muddle that is Planning Law.

Here's a useful rundown of the issues around Supermarkets.

Finally for this section, a brief-but-useful little guide to campaigning.

Posters, etc...

Be the envy of your chums! Time to get rid of that old Bay City Rollers poster and replace it with one of our hip-and-stylish TesKong or TesZilla artworks. Looks great in windows!

New Posters!

Based on a series of Wartime posters that depicted rural scenes to promote the idea of why we're fighting, here's a couple of the Belper equivalent: Cricket, and King Street. Enjoy!

We're not lying when we say that this site is neither endorsed by, or anything to do with, Tesco PLC. Or King Kong.
